MANYATTA AFRICA formerly known as Manyatta Youth Entertainment Community Based Organisation also referred to as MAYE is a Non-governmental; Not for profit youth led, Human Rights community based organization active in Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi Counties, with an aim of providing Young People, especially the highly disadvantaged and marginalized a viable platform on which they can openly address issues affecting them and their grassroots communities. This is accomplished by promoting community resilience, fostering social accountability, and advocating for socioeconomic and political justice. MAYE employs creative, theatrical, and innovative approaches to develop sustainable solutions to community challenges. We provide a platform for positive engagement, dialogue, and collaboration with existing institutions, religious bodies, private sectors, and government entities through arts, sports, online platforms, and social media. Our efforts are dedicated to promoting sustainable peace and preventing violence among youth, women, and children in local communities.
Over the past decade, the organization has progressed significantly from its roots as a grassroots theatre arts group to becoming a fully established community-based organization. The current successes and ongoing advancements reflect the dedicated involvement and commitment of our staff members. Manyatta Africa strives for continuous improvement through effective resource utilization. While we acknowledge our limitations, we take pride in maintaining unwavering commitment, transparency, and accountability across all aspects of our work. We are grateful for the growing support and guidance from well-wishers, including the financial and technical assistance from Forum Civ Eastern and Southern Africa Hub and the Embassy of Sweden in Kenya.
Effective decisions and support from our Board of Advisors, Executive Committee, and Senior Management Team, along with wholehearted cooperation from the National Government, Ministry of Interior and National Coordination, national and county government administrations, private sector, civil society, like-minded organizations, and active participation of grassroots youth and women have been instrumental in achieving our success. We sincerely appreciate and acknowledge their vital contributions.
